Bob walked into sports bar around 9:58 PM. He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV.

The 10 PM news was coming on. The news crew was covering the story of a man on the ledge of a tall building preparing to jump.

The blonde looked at Bob and said,
“Do you think he’ll jump?”

Bob said,
“You know, I bet he’ll jump.”

The blonde replied,
“Well, I bet $20 he won’t.”

Bob placed a $20 bill on the bar and said,
“You’re on!”

Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge did a swan dive off the building.

The blonde was very upset, but willingly handed her $20 to Bob.
“Fair’s fair. Here’s your money.”

Bob replied,
“I can’t take your money. I saw this earlier on the 5PM news, so I knew he would jump.”

The blonde replied,
“I did, too, but I didn’t think he’d do it again.”

Bob took the money.

ボブは9：58PMにスポーツバーに入り、ブロンドヘアの女性の横に座り、テレビを見ていました。

10PMのニュースがちょうど始まり、報道クルーは高層ビルのヘリに立ち、今にも飛び降りようとしている男性を取り上げていた。

ブロンドヘアの女性はボブを見て言いました。
「彼飛ぶと思う？」

ボブは言いました。
「飛ぶ方に賭ける」

ブロンドヘアの女性は続けました。
「へー、わたしは飛ばないほうに賭けるわ」

ボブは２０ドル札をカウンターに置き、言いました。
「決まりだな」

ブロンドヘアの女性が20ドル札をカウンターに置くと程同時に、ビルのヘリにいた男性は思い切って飛びおりました。

ブロンドヘアの女性は動揺しましたが、進んでボブに20ドルを渡しました。
「賭けは賭けよね。おなたのものよ。」

ボブは言いました。
「受け取れないよ。5時のニュースで見たんだ。彼が飛ぶのは知っていたんだよ。」

ブロンドヘアの女性は言いました。
「私も見たのよね。でもまた飛ぶとは思わなかったわ。」

ボブはお金を受け取りました。
