After dinner, you will probably be offered tea and coffee. Whether you have this at the table or in the living room, you will be able to enjoy a relaxed conversation with your hosts. When you are finished with tea or coffee and there appears to be an occasional lag in the conversation, then it is time to get your coats and thank your hosts. A good rule is to leave approximately 30 minutes after coffee is served. Remember that after you go home, your hosts still have to clean up. As you head out the door, remember to say, “We had a wonderful evening. Thank you very much for having us.”
